Frank George Hudson, III, 21, of Aberdeen, was convicted this week of voluntary manslaughter and carrying a concealed dangerous weapon for his role in the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Christopher Kerfoot in the 1200 block of Agora Drive on July 8, 2021.

Prosecutors said that on the night of Kerfoot's death, his brother was woken up shortly before 5 a.m., at their home, where he was suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper torso, though he was able to say “Frank did it” before he died.

The investigation led members of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office right to Hudson, who was identified as a suspect who was known to both Kerfoot and his brother.

Hudson was arrested at his home in the 1400 block of Pannell Drive the night of the stabbing, where a knife was located in a nearby dumpster.

According to investigators, Hudson testified that he believed he was meeting a girl he had been talking to through SnapChat. However, when he went to meet her, he instead was met by Kerfoot, and a fight took place outside Hudson’s vehicle.

During the fight, Kerfoot was stabbed three times and bitten on his upper left arm. He was able to leave the area on foot and make it to his nearby home, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

Kerfoot's DNA was found on Hudson’s driver’s side door during the investigation, and Hudson’s DNA was located on the knife found inside the dumpster, prosecutors said.

An analysis of Kerfoot's phone found that it had recently been used to message Hudson using the girl's name to arrange a meeting at the location of the fight.

Hudson was convicted by a jury after a five-day trial.

“Nothing can bring Christopher Kerfoot back, but today’s verdict is justice for Christopher and for his family that was present for the entire trial,” Healey said.

“This was a difficult case to try without eyewitnesses, but my office will always vigorously pursue truth and justice with the use of the physical evidence.”

Following the verdict, prosecutors requested that a judge continue to hold Hudson at the Harford County Detention Center without bail.

When he is sentenced, Hudson faces up to 10 years in prison for the voluntary manslaughter charge and an additional three for the weapons charge. Sentencing is expected to be scheduled in approximately six weeks.
